Home Sweet Home...

Counting the days til this last chemo finishes... it wont be the end of treatment but its a huge part that we can say is over. If all goes well and he feels okay on monday night, we will be able to bring him home for 2 weeks. Fingers crossed :)

News from 3b

Indra is walking now, altho it takes alot of effort and still only short distances. FINAL chemo starts on Nov 28 and goes for approx a week - YAY! We have been going to SCGH for radiation planning and that will start Nov 18th and run every weekday until the first week of January. Indra should be able to come home on the weekends during that time so it may be easier for you all to pop into the house if you want to visit.

One to go!!!

Chemo 5 is over :) only one to go in another 3 weeks. Indra has got his casts off now and starting to walk a little bit more. His memory is still very affected by whats been going on but he is getting back to his jokester self.

Chemo Delayed

Indra's chemo has been delayed until at least wednesday.

SCAN :)

Well all the blood and spinal fluid tests have come back as normal and the lesion has reduced by about 1cm. Most of which they think is haematoma (blood clot) so thats as good as an outcome we can hope for. Chemo tomorrow then only one more at the end of the month. We may be able to come home inbetween but radiotherapy will be starting november and that will be 5 days a week i think, still waiting for that confirmation.

Still here...

Well, plodding along - the weeks are adding up now. Having MRI and lumbar puncture tomorrow. Due to finish chemo end of October. We will be having radiotherapy for 5 weeks or so after that. Although I think the plan is to get him home sometime between then. Indra is suffering very bad short term memory loss as a result of all this illness. He cannot remember who has visited him or even what he had to eat at breakfast.

He never complains, he always does what he's asked and is working really hard to get better. Many times I've thought about how hard this is but Indra is the one doing the hard yards... he deserves so much more than this!

He's still smiling and that's what's important right now.

Chemo 4 done and dusted !!!!

Well, that's another one over. Indra is finding he gets so tired and unwell when he has chemo now, thankfully the next one is only 3 days worth. 5th chemo starting 2nd Oct then only one more to go after that :)

We are having a MRI and lumbar puncture on the 29th and then we should find out what the next process is. Could be radiation and possibly surgery although they seem to think we may not need it.

Indra is starting to get abit more enthusiastic bout physiotherapy and his ankles are starting to get close to not having the casts anymore. Hopefully we will have him standing by the end of the month. We are looking forward to when we can get him home!!!

Week 13 - here we come!

Hi people... what a week. Indra had a great b'day, we got the ok to eat again so he had the biggest piece of cake EVER!!!! :) more b'day pics coming!

So now Indra is eating we are hoping he will put some weight on. He stood for the first time on Friday with a standing frame and some help. Unfortunately he has casts on his legs to get his ankles back into range so we have to wait abit longer for him to be able to stand for more than a minute. He is having another round of chemotherapy at present and lots of physio and stuff inbetween.

Thanks to all his school friends for the b'day cards - he loved your messages. Im sure he will post on here soon.

A big fingers crossed for Indra's soccer team for the final next w'end. We know you can do it and Indra wants to hear that you make it through the first final - he has great faith in you boys :)

Indra turns 13 on Wednesday!

Surgery went well on thursday, Indra was abit sore afterwards but doin okay. We are looking forward to his B'day this week, hopefully he will be able to have a little bit of ice-cream cake we have for him.
Chemo (4th) starts again next weekend. He will have another scan before chemo 5. Everyday he seems to be getting stronger. We hope he continues to improve as quick as he has. We still have no idea when Inj will be able to come home.

Week 11

Goin on for week 11, I think we know 75% of the hospital by now! Not true but feels that way sometimes. Indra is having a surgery this week to put a port in so they can take out the IV line in his arm. He has been working hard with the physio's, occupational therapist and speech therapist and improving day by day. Slowly he is regaining his strength. Hopefully he will be able to eat REAL food again soon.

We had Braden and Arti up for a visit yesterday - he was so happy to see his couzy bro's!!!!!!

INDRA IS AWESOME AND HE JUST AMAZES ME WITH HIS INNER POTENTIAL :P

GOSSIP!

Its my birthday today guys and Indra has given me the best present ever! He said mum yesterday. It was a bit shaky and a bit of a mumble but he is finally trying to talk... even if he just says one word a day, I'll be happy with that. I cant tell you all how fantastic it is to see little improvements everyday.

SCAN...

Well guys, its looking good. The doctors have said that the tumour has reduced dramatically infact they think most of whats seen on the scan is now blood clot from the big haemorrhage he suffered just after the first treatment. He will still continue to have chemotherapy and his rehabilitation is still a long way to go as he has suffered a huge trauma to the brain but everyday he is amazing us with his fighting spirit. Hopefully with time the clot will resolve. We have a long recovery ahead and lots of rehabilitation but with time we hope Inj can get back to his happy smiley self :)

WEEK 9

It's Sunday and very quiet here on 3b. No doctors or physios to come bugging us like on the weekdays. We are patiently waiting for results to come through from the MRI... hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday. Indra has been showing some signs of improvement this week and we even got a smile!!!

Our love goes out to Bryce today as he has had to have emergency surgery and will be here for a few days.
